ShareNext week Come October 4, 2016 Google will unveil its first-gen Pixel smartphones ! These phones will offer an alternative to Apple’s flagship phones which are currently facing supply and demand issues.  Here’s everything we know about Google Pixel. According to reports, the 5-inch Pixel X and the larger 5.5-inch Pixel XL are the two new “Google Phones” confirmed to be unveiled on October 4 along with a few other products. The Pixel and Pixel XL have been featured in numerous leaks this summer and are also known as the Nexus Sailfish and Nexus Marlin. The company itself has just revealed a teaser video for an event on October 4th. The image is of the upcoming Pixel X smartphone from Google. It’s a rounded rectangle with a screen on the front, an earpiece, cameras, sensors and buttons. Notice something different on phone screen ? Yes, circular icons. Every icon is circular. Besides that Pixel and Pixel XL will likely run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. It is expected to be unveiled alongside Pixel smartphones next week. Android Nougat will have various visual changes as compared to its earlier version  like Google widget on the left and new navigation keys which are no longer hollow. Whether the circular icons are part of new Android ecosystem or just Pixel devices is still a mystery. Imagesource As for specs, there have been many leaks on what these phones will be packing. Currently, the Pixel X is believed to launch with a 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB RAM. Besides, it’ll have a 2770 mAh battery, 12-megapixel back and 8-megapixel front camera and a USB type-C port. As a matter of fact, they are likely to run two highly impressive Sony IMX next generation camera sensors. According to rumors, Pixel X will start at $649 for an unlocked version which isn’t cheap. Imagesource For large phone lovers, Pixel XL will feature similar specifications. The only things to distinguish the Pixel from the Pixel XL will be screen and battery size. It will offer a 5.5-inch screen with a 3,450 mAh battery and quad HD (1440p) display. By far, there are no leaks regarding the starting price of XL. Reportedly none of the phones will be waterproof but they might be water-resistant. Also storage options for both the phones will start from 32 GB and extend all the way up to 128 GB. Furthermore, Pixel phones could have Google Assistant built right in. Android would not only allow Google users to say “Ok, Google” to summon their assistant, but type to it too. The new software will help to maximize the usability of Google Assistant. Both the phones will have a fingerprint scanner on the backside of the phone. Another key point is the presence of headphone jack. In addition to the phones, rumors are that Google will launch Daydream- a new VR headset, it’s Amazon Echo competitor – Google Home and even a 4K Chromecast. In conclusion, we won’t know for sure what Google has to announce until its October 4 event takes place. While Samsung is working on their “Exploding” Note 7’s, these phones will be biggest iPhone competitor’s in market. So stay tuned in for full details of the official unveiling at the highly anticipated press conference. We all are waiting for it ! 🙂 UPDATE – Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL are now available in India and can be purchased exclusively on Flipkart ...

ShareIs this the best iPhone ever or just another Superlative term used ? Let’s preview UPDATE – iPhone 6S & 6S Plus gets a price cut up to Rs 22,000 in India Amidst lot of noise and speculations, Apple unveiled its new showstopper the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. As always, Apple didn’t fail to surprise me by terming the new product as the best iPhone ever 🙂 Nevertheless, let’s take a look at the first impression. First Look and Design The first glance will not surprise you as the new version looks inspired a lot from the older iPhone 6 and 6S except the antenna bands at the back, which renders a cleaner look. Additionally, the new piano finish jet black looks a complete stunner and might be the first choice for many of the fans out there. You no longer have space gray model though, but is well compensated by the Jet black and the Matt black versions. Display We were expecting something revolutionary in terms of display but will have to settle for less. The bigger iPhone 7Plus comes with the usual Retina HD display of 1080p and the smaller version is equipped with 720p resolution. However, as per the experts, the display is almost 25% brighter than the earlier versions which makes sunlight legibility even better this time. Processor/RAM The 7 and 7 Plus version of iPhone will be powered by A10 Fusion Chip which is a Quad core. Apple claims that this newer version will be very powerful compared to the A9 mainly because of a new architecture which understand the usability pattern and consumes less power when not in use. It would be really interesting to see how the company has managed to balance between the efficiency and power. Well, we never doubted the same ! Memory You won’t find the 16GB version now , but you have the 128GB and 256GB variants along with 64GB memory. Interestingly, there is no 64GB option as well ! I fail to understand the absence of the 64GB variant. Battery With the A10 Fusion chip, Apple claims to get more time between charges than ever before, up to two more hours on iPhone 7 and up to one more hour on iPhone 7 Plus than the previous generation. This will be a great news for the gaming geeks as they can expect to play their favorite games for a longer duration now Camera This is one aspect where the company has come up with something new and exciting. It has added the optical image stabilisation which was missing in the previous models. Additionally, an ƒ/1.8 aperture and a six‑element lens combines to make shooting photos and videos in low light, a never before experience. Other features like quad LED true, live photos with stabilisation hold good here. The front facing camera is now a 7MP shooter which is a welcome addition for the selfies lovers. But the best upgrade comes to the bigger version (iPhone 7Plus) which has a dual 12MP cameras at the back with different lenses though ! You have the normal 28mm lens on the right accompanied by a 56mm lens on the left, this primarily caters to 2X optical zoom. This is called as the ‘Telephoto’ lens. You can toggle between 1X zoom and 2X zoom with just one button press. The addition of Digital zoom on the 7Plus means the photos will be more detailed and Apple claims will it not lose its clarity even on zooming to a great extent. Additional Features The 7 and 7Plus variants are water and dust resistant, no need to worry about your phone during the rain Both the models will now have stereo speakers which is expected to be twice as louder as the 6S version. The placement of the both the speakers are in such a way that it dynamically increases the output quality. iPhone 7 and 7Plus come with Earpods with lightening connectors and will no longer have the 3.5mm headphone jack but an adapter will be included in the box if you still want to listen to your favorite tunes on your old headset. The inclusion of ‘Earpods’ without cables – now famous as ‘Airpods’, basically serves the same purpose of rendering great audio quality output to your ears but without any wires. This however, will not be too cheap and will cost somewhere around USD 160, around INR 15000 in India. The Home button functions differently now and is not exactly a physical button. It is more like a glass interface which can understand the amount of pressure applied and gives feedback . There is a ‘Taptic Engine’ behind it which gives it a tactile feel and can be customized.   Pros:- Brighter Display which means better sunlight legibility and more vibrant color reproduction . A10 fusion processor is expected to be faster and more efficient than A9 chip due to a new revamped architecture. Water and dust resistant IP67 certified. No need to worry when you are on a long ride on a rainy day. Improved battery performance than the previous variant of iPhone 6S, up to 2 more hours. Great camera improvement on both the variants specially the iPhone 7 Plus version with dual lens setup and improved low light photography. Inclusion of Optical Image Stabilization is a great add-on. Stereo speakers is expected to enhance the output audio quality of the phones which was missing in the earlier versions. Addition of 2 more colors in the form of Piano jet black and the Matt Black versions look stunning. New improved Home button. Cons:- Not available in 16GB and 64GB variants, which means, you will have to shell out more for your dream phone. 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing which is something we are so much used to. Space grey color version will no longer be available. The’ Piano Finish’ Jet black model though looks stunning, is prone to attract a lot of finger prints. Moreover, because of such a glossy and shinning finish, it is bound to have minor scratches over a period of time. If you are in love with this variant, adding a cover case to your cart should be a great idea. Both the variants are expected to be expensive in Indian market. Although, the price hasn’t been disclosed yet, but we can safely assume that this won’t be easy on our pockets. The ‘Airpods’ , which looks a cool accessory to have, is expected to be sold separately at close to Rs 15000/-, which nevertheless, may not be the best of the deals around.   iPhone7 and 7 Plus is expected to hit the stores by 12th of September, and will be up for Pre-order from 9th September for the US and other major Apple markets. However, in India you can get it from 7th of October (no surprises here !) We would update this section once we have a detailed review of the same. Till then, let’s wait… ImageSource   ...

ShareThe Merging will help OnePlus to roll out updates faster   OnePlus has always been a trend setter. The company grew in leaps and bounds in every passing month. They came up with a series of great smartphones without burning a hole in our pocket. Let’s take a quick look on them :- OnePlus 1– Who can forget this ‘Flag Ship’ Killer which took the entire mobile industry in a storm. Unbelievable specs at a jaw dropping price. OnePlus 2 – The advanced version of the predecessor having a better battery and higher RAM of 4GB. OnePlus X – A 5inch beauty crafted inside an Onyx or a ceramic body having great specifications. OnePlus 3 – The latest entry in the family which has redefined what a smart phone can do. One of the best smartphones I have come across ! However, one area where the critics and the users have been left wanting is the OS updates. I agree that the company has not been to its optimum best when it comes to rolling out updates. The company has taken this seriously now and the recent report suggests that both the android builds will now become one. ImageSource Let’s take a quick look to understand these two OS:- Oxygen OS – The real flavor of Android with more essence . Many OEMs tweak the original Android ecosystem and UI looks to make it distinct. A simple example is TouchWiz for Samsung and Sense for HTC. OxygenOS is a  stock version of Android with limited customization options. Hydrogen OS – It is similar to Oxygen OS , the only difference is that this operating system is  for the Chinese market as we all know that Google is banned in China. Hydrogen OS has all the features similar to oxygen OS minus Google play services. As per the reports on XDA Publisher, the exact date and time has not been decided yet, but a OnePlus representative has given a clear sign that the company is taking it on a priority basis. However, there are some challenges that they might face to come up with one firmware across all its markets. This predominantly can be because of cultural differences and different target audience. OnePlus has been one of the hot selling smartphone in China and Indian market. Initially the company came up with a not so famous invite system for anyone to get a hands on . However, with the onset of OP3, this is now history ! The representative said – “With the community build we are experimenting with new ideas and features, and then using the feedback from our community to refine…In fact, the next versions of the community build will address a lot of the feedback we have already received.” Looks like OnePlus team is active on the forums now 🙂 It actually makes a lot of sense because now the team can focus completely on one OS with respect to the bugs, updates and other value add features. This was a major challenge earlier as they had to cater to the user base of both the platforms, which was not appreciated by all. We are keeping our fingers crossed for this to be a reality and it would be very interesting to see how the loyal customers of OnePlus reacts to it.     ...

ShareSamsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge Is this the most beautiful phone ever by Samsung ? Let’s find out Samsung recently announced their new flagship, the note series called Galaxy Note 7. Does this punch in the same specifications as their predecessor or has something new to offer ? Read on.. In terms of the feel factor, this phone really feels good to hold despite a Phablet (5.7 inch). The primary reason being good weight distribution and smooth edges which is slight curved. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Edge Display Super AMOLED – Samsung has a reputation of making one of the best screen and this is no exception Screen Size: 5.7 Inch Resolution -1440×2560 pixels (~ 515 pixels per inch) Excellent Sunlight legibility with Quad HD type screen One of the brightest screen available around which is simply stunning Processor/RAM Exynos 8890 Octacore – 64bit, 2.3 GHz 4GB Ram GPU: Mali-T880 MP12 Memory Internal Memory: 64 GB Expandable Memory Slot: up to 256 GB Sim Slots Dual Sim (GSM+GSM) Hybrid sim slot -This means you can either use one sim and Memory card or 2 sims at any point of time Battery Battery Capacity: 3500 mAh, lithium-ion battery, can easily last for full day with a moderate to heavy use Dimensions Weight: 169 gm Thickness: 7.9 mm (Quite Slim in this range) Camera Primary Camera : 12 MP Auto Focus with Flash Full HD Video Recording in 4K Other Camera Features: Optical Image Stabilization with smile detection feature Phase Detection Auto Focus Simultaneous 4K video and 9MP image recording Secondary Camera: 5.0 MP Secondary Camera Features: Video call in Dual Mode, Auto HDR, Panorama Sweep Samsung Note 7 camera works really well in almost all the conditions which includes even the low light set up. When it comes to the front facing shooter, the selfies come out with good details and very less noise Additional Features Edge Screen Feature – Gives an instant access to apps and features which you commonly use Finger print scanner Fast charging – Supports fast charging and roughly takes about an 1 hour and 20 minutes to go from 0 to 100% (Could have been better though !) Wireless charging feature – A great feature in most of the recent Galaxy note smartphones Corning Gorilla Glass 5 back panel USB Type C Charger IP68 Water and Dust Resistant – works really well specially if you love riding your bike in rain 🙂 Iris Scanner – You can unlock the device by letting the camera scan your eyes using the infra-red lens, this is on top of options like finger print scanner and other regular patterns Stylus Pen – As per the reports, this works even under the water ! Pros:- Despite a big phone, has a very premium built quality with beautiful edges and is quite comfortable to hold and operate Probably the best screen quality compared to any smartphones out there with a great sunlight legibility and brightness Excellent call quality even for prolonged conversation, very good network reception Very good gaming experience even for heavy games, thanks to a great processor and a 4GB Ram S Pen Stylus works brilliantly even under extreme test conditions Doesn’t heat up a lot while playing heavy games, which is big plus for heavy gamers Loud and clear sound output which is very balanced even at the higher level Great Battery life which is a must for every smart phone, for moderate use you can even expect it to last over a day Cons:- For some of the users a screen size of 5.7 inches might not be the ideal one, specially if you have a small hand Touchwiz is a great feature on papers, but in this case you will not find the shortcut widgets when you swipe the screen from top. Needless to say, this means you will have to actually get into the main options mode to use these. The ‘Edge screen’ functionality is more of a marketing gimmick and looks great on TVC, in real life though, it hardly is of much use Finger print scanner is good but not the best, especially when you consider that it is priced over Rs 50,000/- Gorilla glass protection works brilliantly for the front screen but when it comes to the back case, you need to be extremely careful as it is prone to minor scratches. It is strongly recommended to complete your purchase with a back cover case as well. Personally speaking for me the price of this smart phone is another big letdown, you have similar or slightly better options available at almost half this price Multitasking ability which is directly proportion to the phone’s RAM management could have been better. To explain this better, if you have multiple apps open and try to navigate through, the open apps should not restart. Verdict Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a stunner when it comes to looks and built quality. It is packed with a solid 4GB Ram and a Octacore processor and has features like water and dust resistance along with great battery life. However, you will have to shell out Rs 59,900/- (almost 60,000) to get a hands on . UPDATE- Samsung has started a massive call back of the Note 7 units because of battery issue which has affected a lot of users world wide. Some of the reports have suggested that the device catches fire while charging. If you are a big Samsung fan and were waiting in anticipation for this, go ahead ! if not, you can look out for better options at a very competitive price. BUY(You can Pre-order it at this moment ) Do share your experience, if you get a hands on this new flagship from Samsung !   ...

As stated above you will find a lot of resemblance when you compare it to Redmi Note 3 , except that this has a smaller screen size and hence better hand grip Phone is quite light and handy despite the fact that it dons a huge battery of 4100 mAh, this is predominantly because of good weight distribution with reference to its size MIUI is one of the best customized android skin around and get frequent updates. Arguably the best battery in the range which can easily last for close to 2 days at a moderate and heavy usage Redmi phones have a reputation of being very snappy and fast processing Cons:- Redmi 3S prime camera is a let down just like we expected a better camera in Redmi Note 3. It could have been better since the pictures although decent in day light conditions, fails to leave a mark in low light and night conditions Loudspeaker’s volume output could have been improved as at a louder volume it tends to sound a bit shrill BUY If you are not able to get your hands on this stunning phone because of the flash sale method on Flipkart, do CONTACT us and we will book the phone on your behalf. Thanks, Manish ...
